Come summers, my favorite go to breakfast is always smoothies. Especially super green smoothies , I always struggle to eat green leafy vegetables in my diet so a daily green smoothie is like a natural vitamin supplement with real food.

Banana berry green smoothie bowl is a quick, vegan and delicious breakfast that is absolutely filling and light on the waistline. It is incredibly easy to prepare and packs a punch of vitamins in it.

    Smoothies for Weight Loss

There is a myth that smoothies and juices can make you lose weight. In my view, no foods are magical pills for losing weight, if you add in a full avocado daily in your smoothie, there is no way you are going to lose any weight. Similarly, if you drink a green smoohiter daily and eat junk for the rest of the day, no luck again.

As a thumb rule, the amount of calories you consume should be less than the amount of calories you spend for weight loss. Choosing low calorie foods that are filling can help us keeping the overall calorific value of the food low, hence smoothies are a great option.

    Ingredients

Spinach – a great source of folic acid and iron, also very mild that you won’t feel drinking greens at all. baby spinach wors well.

Berries – Low calorie and rich in anti-oxidants, use fresh or frozen.

Banana – Bulk up the smoothie and acts as natural sweetener.

Carrots – Just because I want to add as many fruits

Milk – any plant based milk or normal milk that act as a liquid base. Yogurt in running consistency also works fine.

Oats – Bulk up the smoothie and adds fiber. this is completely optional. Use ready to cook oats.

Peanut Butter – to add protein content. you could use any nut butter

Toppings – almonds flakes, chia seeds, additional fresh fruit, ground flax meal.

a plate loaded with berries, banana, carrots, spinach and a bowl of oats , milk and peanut butter

    Which blender?

Honestly, I would suggest to use whatever blender you have at home, All we need is a smooth blend of the fruits and veggies and we don’t need any fancy juicers or blenders for the same.

Below, you see the blender jar of Briville brand which is my favorite. I bought this for £19.99 and is the best blender I have seen in my life for this price. It comes with 2 jars and lids so you don’t even need another serving glass etc.

I would recommend using the one you have at home before investing on a new blender.

    Pro Tips

    • You can easily double or triple this recipe depending on how many servings you want.
    • Use two pitted dates if you prefer more sweetness although I feel banana is good enough.
    • Use a  Briville blender to ensure that the smoothie gets very creamy and fully blended.

    FAQs

    Can I skip banana?

Banana is added to bulk up the smoothie and adds natural sweetness, you could also use half avocado but will need to add a sweetener.

What other liquids I could use?

Coconut water, plain water, thinned yogurt, milk

How can I increase the protein?

Add protein powders, nut butters, chia seeds etc

How long it can be stored?

I would recommend not to store the smoothie for a long time as it can turn brown. You could freeze the fruit in individual packs and blend them when you are ready to consume

    Will I taste the greens?

Absolutely, not. Spinach is a very mild green leafy vegetable and you hardly taste the greens.
